Sir Sam's Inn & WaterSpa is a classic country inn and resort. A location on the shore of Eagle Lake in the beautiful Haliburton Highlands provides guests with the four-season recreation facilities of a resort and also the dining and amenities of a fine country inn. Sir Sam's specializes in meetings of up to 50 persons and groups often enjoy the exclusive use of the property and facilities. Meeting planners appreciate Sir Sam's philosophy of flexibility that allows complete freedom when determining menu, recreational times and activities.
The inn began as the summer estate of Sir Samuel Hughes, Canada's Minister of Defence during World War I. The original ten-bedroom mansion was an architectural expression, in hand-hewn beams and skilled masonry work of Sir Sam's desire to combine the best of creature comforts with the natural beauty of Haliburton. Inn management continues this tradition by naming Nature itself as the inn's "guest of honour."

and hydrotherapy pool as well as a range of massage and body

The Haliburton Highlands are renowned for scenic beauty year-round, especially during autumn when local artists open their workshops for the fall studio tour event. Most of all, visitors simply love to cruise the hilly back roads, stopping at well-known scenic overlooks and in the numerous small towns. Recreational facilities available in Haliburton include skating, basketball and curling. The Northern Lights Performing Arts Centre provides professional summer theatre.
Sir Sam's partners with the Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve to provide guests with unique back country adventures, including a Walk in the Clouds luncheon high up in the pines on a suspended boardwalk, and evening wolf howl and astronomy programs. Algonquin Park is nearby and group tours to the park, including the visitor centre, can be arranged. The region is renowned for its 125-km trail system, which provides some of the best cross-country skiing in eastern North America.
