This heritage 33 room
inn furnished and decorated in period style, offers the ambiance of
a more tranquil time, making it the perfect getaway from an urban
lifestyle. Guests may relax by the fireside in the library, in
the country gardens or with a treatment in the spa. The
restaurant blends the best of Ontario and Canada with the highlight
of an Ontario VQA wine list. Chef Thomas Riding works with
local growers to add fresh organic harvests to his seasonally
changing menu. Only 45 minutes south of Ottawa, its location

We
have 24 guest rooms and fireplace suites, and our decor employs
heritage colour and fabrics. All furnishings are antiques or
specially-crafted reproductions of pieces actually used in Lanark
County during the 1860s. No two rooms are furnished alike. Our six
fireplace suites have furniture carved from solid cherry wood, and
also feature fireplaces and a sitting area; some have vaulted
ceilings. Wall coverings, quilts, dried flowers and folk art, all
created in colours and patterns typical of the 1860s, contribute to
the feeling of country comfort and luxury. Sam Jakes has just
expanded to include three new luxury suites with Jacuzzis and
fireplaces as well as a new
conference facility.

Dining
at the Sam Jakes Inn is a delightful experience for guests and
visitors alike. We emphasize local ingredients such as farm fresh
produce, cheese and meat from area producers and homemade preserves
and vinegars.
Our Sunday brunch is deservedly popular, as are our other
celebrations: Easter brunch, Mother's and Father's Day, family
nights and seafood specials. On Friday and Saturday evenings during
the summer, guests enjoy live music on the patio. Taste our gourmet
burgers made with ingredients such as boar and apple, bison and
pecan, and venison and blueberry.
Our tavern caters to local products and tastes wherever possible.
Local draft beers and Ontario wines are featured. In keeping with
the strong Scottish tradition in this area, single-malt whiskies are
also available.
